Bella by Daginne Aignend

The attic smells moist and moldy
A result of forgotten memories
heaped in messy, dusty piles
Her grandmother's cloak furbished from an old blanket
in a vague taupe color and auburn stripes, still wears
the scent of her grandmother's perfume

Falling dusk muddles her view, as she turns on the switch
The archaic attic light flickers and dies hastily
Unseen faces in the dark, a glimmer of
drooling muzzles stare at her with eyes of evil
She crawls backward trying to find her way into
the safest area of the cottage
She grabs something moist and viscous
The sudden scent of squalid rust fills the atmosphere

The little flashlight shows Bella, her once beloved doll, in the dim light
Her bloodcurdling scream rendered silent as she sees it
Scarlet tears are dripping out of Bella's eyes!
A horrified panic paralyzes her, a vertigo attack.
Feeble knees, she has to sit down as she gasps for air
She cuts her finger on something sharp.
Shards of an old jar, near her bleeding Bella
The broken jar still contains the residue of some soggy, sanguine
substance, as she reads the handwritten label:
'Granny's homemade pomegranate syrup'

  1. Thank you, Sandy for the help and guidance you gave me, because sometimes I still stumble through the landscape of grammatical errors.
