Headstone by Zvi A. Sesling

Cold reminder of existence carved:
loving spouse, parent, grandparent
plus years granted
Lovers are not included
neither is corruption
business
Education,  swimming holes
are forgotten
so are pets
The first car is now rotting in a
pile of rotting cars somewhere
in a past city
Worldly goods and clothes divided
among the living or dispersed or disposed
to street dwellers finding and claiming them
Money left to the lucky who will forget the
giver, forget to visit the headstone soon overgrown
with grass or weeds
