Words of This Dirge by Toshihisa Nikaido

Not a soul in sight above my resting bed,
But laughing all about they are instead,
No tears of sadness nor any spiritual guidance,
No mourning whispers nor moments of silence,
  After all that I was has been denied,
  This is the only place where I may hide.

A passing which brings nothing of sorrow nor cheer,
All of these years now gone and forgotten, it’s clear,
No changes to the tides with a ripple less one,
As it was decided long before the waves begun,
  From a short life lived but what can emerge,
  Nothing more than the words of this dirge.

Toshihisa Nikaido has worked on popular video game series such as Resident Evil, Pokémon, and The Legend of Zelda. Toshihisa more recently joined Japan’s space exploration agency for a completely new challenge while using writing as a creative outlet and has since been published in several literary journals.
